This week I am linking up with the Homeschool Mother's Journal. Click on the link above and check out what all the other Homeschool Mom's have been up to this week!
In my life this week… My youngest two started public school on Monday (1st & 3rd grade). This will be their last year before they come home with me. I was sad to see them go but they have had a good week and they are happy with their teachers and classmates. It has been easier doing school with B without all his friends knocking on the door throughout the morning.
In our homeschool this week… Things have went pretty smoothly. B's favorite thing was probably Art where we learned about Picasso and he got to paint a copy of one of Picasso's paintings. He had a lot of fun doing it. I also found out that B really likes geography, which is something that I never knew!
My favorite thing this week was… Finding out the B like geography. I have had fun looking online for fun games and printables for him to work on.
What’s
Things I’m working on… Putting together a Geography curriculum that is fun for B. I don't want to spend any more money ... so it is pretty much printables. And we have a game that all the kids LOVE called the Scrambled States of America. They don't even realize that they are learning the states and capitals!
I’m reading… I just borrowed The Help from a friend. I have heard so much about it and I can't wait to get started!
I’m grateful for… My husband who works so hard so that I can stay home with the kids and homeschool. I have heard a lot of moms say that they would love to homeschool but they can't because they work.
A photo, video, link, or quote to share… I have been in a very fall mood recently...
Ditto on the thankful for a hard-working Hubster!
ReplyDeleteAnd The Help really was a good read! Although, I mistakenly thought it was a comedy. Not so much, really!

We borrowed The Scrambled States of America BOOKS for the library last month and they kids thought they were a hoot! We haven't tried the game, but it's on my (growing) Wish List.
ReplyDeleteI love the pumpkin hat! My Mom made my daughter an apple one when she was an infant. Way cute!
Stopping by from THMJ!
I saw the movie, The Help. Now I want to read the book.
ReplyDelete@Danielle - I am hoping to start the book this weekend. Glad to know that you liked it!
ReplyDelete@Our Side of the Mountain - I wish that I could say that I made the pumpkin hat ... I knit but I don't knit very well. I can only knit rectangles! :-) Thank God for grandmas who do!
@Chaos Cottage - I am holding out on seeing the movie for when I finish the book. I will probably wait for the video!
Love that fall picture, so cute
ReplyDeleteAnd yes we are very blessed to have a hard working daddy who provides the opportunity to homeschool
Have you ever read The United Tweets of America? It's about all the state birds, and it is hilarious. My oldest loved the Apologia elementary science books (with the exception of the one you mentioned - we didn't use it because I had already done my own thing regarding those studies by the time it was published).
ReplyDeleteThat's interesting that you have a foot in the public school world and the homeschool world! I would love to read more about that! stopping by from the HMJ linky.
ReplyDelete@Mama Bird - Thank you! I love that picture too. It is about 2 years old. Probably time to take some more fall pictures.
ReplyDelete@flmom - I will have to check out that book. Sounds cute!
@Katie - Only one more year of having one foot in the public school world. At least that is my plan! :-)
I love when I realize my kids like something new. I love watching them open up.
ReplyDelete@trooppetrie - I know! It has been such a blessing!
ReplyDeleteI want to read the book Help too:) and I will right after I read my current book:) We are currently studying geography around the world and have so much fun doing it. Thanks for linking up to the NOBH:)
ReplyDelete@The Adventurer
ReplyDeleteI finished the book and it was really good. I didn't like the ending though. I like things all tied up in a bow and it left things hanging way too much for me!
We use Enchanted Learning dot com for so many things. They have great printables for flags, state symbols, maps etc.
ReplyDeleteI am new to the NOBH crew. Stopping in to say hello, and thank you for linking up with NOBH!
@Heidi
ReplyDeleteI will have to try out that website! Thanks for the info!
